Your Japan Unlimited 5G eSIM should normally configure APN settings automatically once installed and activated.
However, if you’re in Japan and mobile data isn’t working (or is unreliable), you can try setting the APN manually using the details below.
1. Recommended 5G APN (primary settings)
Use this APN first. This is the main 5G-capable APN for Japan Unlimited eSIMs:
APN name:
uad5gn.au-net.ne.jp
Username:
[email protected]
Password:
au
Authentication type:
CHAP
You can usually leave all other fields (MCC, MNC, APN type, proxy, port, etc.) as their defaults unless your device requires them.
2. 4G-Only Fallback APN
If you still can’t use data after setting the 5G APN above, switch to this 4G-only APN and test again.
APN:
uno.au-net.ne.jp
Username:
[email protected]
Password:
KpyrR6BP
Authentication type:
CHAP
Use this APN exactly as written.
3. Tethering / Hotspot Note (“APN type”)
On some devices, tethering / hotspot won’t work unless you adjust the APN type.
If your device shows an “APN type” field:
- Do not delete the existing values (e.g.
default,suplor similar). - Simply append
,dunto whatever is already there.
For example:
- If your APN type is:
default,supl
- Change it to:
default,supl,dun
If there are other strings already in APN type, just add ,dun to the end without removing anything.
Depending on the model,
,dunmay not be added automatically even when APN is set up by the system, so setting it manually can fix tethering on some devices.
4. Quick Troubleshooting Checklist
If data still isn’t working after setting the APN:
- Make sure Mobile Data is turned on.
- Toggle Airplane Mode off and on.
- Restart the device after saving APN changes.
- Try the 5G APN first, then the 4G fallback APN if needed.
- Double-check for typos in APN, username, or password – they must match exactly.
