Install your eSIM before travelling while you have unrestricted internet access. An eSIM can generally only be installed once, so do not delete it while troubleshooting.
If your iPhone uses iOS 17.4 or later, you can use the one-tap installation link in your order confirmation PDF.
If you cannot use the link, or you use an older iOS version:
- Open Settings.
- Select Mobile or Cellular.
- Tap Add eSIM.
- Tap Use QR Code.
- Scan the QR code in your order confirmation PDF, or tap Enter Details Manually and enter both the SM-DP+ Address and Activation Code.
- Follow the on-screen prompts.
If the QR code cannot be used
The eSIM may already be installed, especially if you previously saw an Unable to Activate eSIM or Failed to Activate eSIM message. Open Settings > Mobile/Cellular and check the complete eSIM list before trying again. The newest eSIM is usually near the bottom.
The displayed name is not necessarily BambooSIM. A Japan eSIM may appear as KDDI or au.
Settings after installation
- Turn the new eSIM on and select it for Mobile Data.
- Check the exact product name in your order.
- Apply the product-specific APN settings and Data Roaming settings.
Some eligible legacy eSIMs may show a paid self-service replacement option in the portal. Never delete an eSIM because it is not yet connecting; contact support first if you need a replacement.
